The other day my ex G/F ran a red light and it had a traffic signal camera next to it. I assume that shes going to get a fine a points but the camera didnt flash. It was in the day light around 14:00 and it was pretty murky outside.
Basically is she going to get the fine and points or not?

Im sure that they flash, even in the day time as well as night.

If i'm right they all flash I think but I've read up that some of them don't apparently. Also not all of them operate 24/7 as from what I have read some of them only operate at certain times of the day. Unfortunately you have got to wait up to 2 weeks now to see if the letter arrives or not to be certain :(

Well the back of the car is really dirty and its hard to make out the number plate. I guess that we will have to wait and see but more comments are welcome if people know anything different.

If its a big grey camera they usually flash. If you mean the little thing that looks like a camera on top of the traffic light, its not a camera but a sensor and nothing else. I think its 0.8 seconds in to red before the cameras flash though the cameras are like 20ft away from the traffic light, not next to it.

It was the grey and yellow camera near the lights and I did tell her about it but she didnt listen. Like I said it didnt flash at all and so I think that she might of got away with it. Also there was a car up her back side, so could we use this as an excuse for running the light due to it wasnt safe enough to stop?

So I guess that your just meant to let the person crash into the back of you. I know that it would be the other persons fault but if you avoid an accident by going through the red light, surely thats better than having an accident

Not if by running said red light you T-Bone into someone....

The lights where it happened dont just turn green once the other set have turned red. They wait for about 2 seconds then go green, just in case someone does go through them.

Always approach a light gradually slowing down, that will control the driver behind you usually, thats my approach. Only when i know it'll definetly be green or i will definetly make it on early amber then i go across at a fair pace, after approaching slowly at a reasonable pace that if i need to stop i can without smoking the brakes. If i approach on an already amber light i will stop, no sense causing an accident and getting points for the sake of a few seconds wait. much better getting whiplash then side impacted or impacting someone.

I know this but like I said I wasnt driving and I told her to slow down cause of the traffic camera. If anyone knows if they are meant to flash all the time or just at night, it would be helpful.

I've seen them go off at mid day, big bright flash like lightning. Its a big rectangular one right? If its the little yellow ones i can't be sure but the big ones that have been there for yonks definetly do flash 24/7.

You cant use the excuse that the person behind you made you go through the light.

What if they were tailgating you when someone stepped out in the road, would you plough them down and blame the guy behind you?

If you can't stop for a red light you're going too fast, doesn't matter if there's anyone behind you or not. You also shouldn't cite your only reason for telling her to slow down was because of the red light camera  that suggests that it would be fine for her to run the red light if there wasn't a red light camera there?

It looked like that from the front but behind it was yellow so that you can see it.

Also about the person crossing, you obviously wouldnt carry straight on. I assume that she had looked in her mirrors and looked at the light and realized that she couldnt stop safely. The guy behind didnt go through but they stopped over the white line. I looked behind to see if they went through as well.

Well we wasnt going that fast at all cause she doesnt drive fast. I told her to watch out for the camera due to the person been a **** tailgating her for about 1/2 a mile and I didnt fancy been in another accident and messing my back up again.

Well no they didnt but like I said. When I looked behind us, they had stopped with all four wheels over the white line and also it looked like a little bit of smoke due to them slamming on the brakes. So I believe if we would have stopped then they would have smashed into the back of us.
