Trail centre E-MTB hire in the North East?

Me and my son are looking to have a play with an e-bike, hads anyone got any recommendations on where to hire one within 100 miles or so of Newcastle Upon Tyne?

Just quite fancy a play with one at a trail centre for the day.
 
After a quick Google, it's looking like Whinlatter, Glentress, Kirroughtree, etc.

Kielder is the nearest to me, but I wrote fancy somewhere different and a bit more interesting.
 
Dalby Forest also offers this.

Also we were in Glentress last weekend and a lot of the trails are diverted and the visitors centre, shop and cafe are closed for construction works.

Don't think they reopen for a few more weeks.

Thank you, I did see something on their website about diversions, but didn't fully look into it, and thanks for Dalby, hasn't thought of that one.
 
If you fancy a try on trails outside of a bike park there’s Dales Bike Centre with some really good stuff around them including Ard Rock stages, they can point/give directions to get to lost and it’s pretty easy to find.
 
I’ve come to the conclusion hiring an e-bike is the way to go.

My son and myself ride maybe a handful times a year so dropping £5k+ each on a bike doesn’t seem sensible.
I’ll buy him one as hiring an e-bike for under 16’s seems impossible, but I’m happy to pay £100 a day to hire a Spesh Levo for myself . Plus there is no hassle with maintenance, cleaning and you get to ride the updated bikes as new models are released :)

Coed Y Brenin and all of the Scotland trail centres appear to have e-bike hire.
Even if we increase our trail centre riding to 10 days a year, it’s still just £5k over 5 years hiring.

people overestimate how much maintenance there is
cleaning is a 15minute job even if you use a 2-5litre hand pump spray bottle and a cloth to wipe down the frame after so its nice and dry.

MTB tyres like maxxis DHII and Assagei last 500-1000miles
Brake pads are going to last you 500+ miles
Chains can last 2k miles if you have like sram xx1
most people only do fork maintenance once a year apart from keeping seals clean and oiled with fork lube.
Whyte offer free lifetime warranty on pivot bearings for the original owner of their bikes and those bearings should last 1-2 years anyway
I dont know about specialised motors but Bosch motors should last into the 10k+ mile mark as long as you aren't using pressure washers or riding in thunder storms (there's loads of people on the bosch EMTB Facebook group that are upto 20k-30k km on their motors)
I'm 669 miles on my EMTB and my battery has only gone through 12 full charging cycles, total delivered energy 10.5kW so they last for ages too


Apart from cleaning theres not much else to do.

£5.5k is a cheap e-bike.
Realistically I could get one for about £3.5k but then it’s weaker parts, less range, less power motor which means less enjoyment and ultimately more frustration.

I have no problem renting a bike - I lease my car for over £600 per month and I won’t own it at the end.

5.5-6.5k is like the sweet spot for buying EMTB, they start around 3.5k
they aren't normal Mountain Bikes, they are specialised bikes for either Enduro or Down Hill.

The front suspension on them is around is around 600-700+ alone

Still a rip off though for example this bikes RRP is less than £5000

someone somewhere is making a hell of a lot of money from bicycles

NO bicycles, I was just showing how ridiculous the prices are of EMTB Enduro/Downhill bikes which is what the original poster is riding.
You can literally buy a brand new motorbike that;s built for the same types of terrain for cheaper.

He is talking electric assisted version of this type of bike.

The vitus bikes seem a decent buy at £3.5k.

Friend has one races all year round on it, normally top 10 in big enduro events too.

But yeah, it could potentially save cash, if you include transport etc too. Bikes ain't cheap, I'm not even sure I agree on maintenance especially if your smashing bike parks all summer.

Ahhh gotcha :)
I was thinking it was for a nice leisurely ride in the forestry or some thing ,which is what i got my ebike for :)
