I got some stick for starting a thread about a train day rover that we get now and again(£9.50 for 2 in west yorkshire) tbh all transport and engineering interests me ,when i get home from going on a certain train (the last was a class 180 (james herriot ,grand central), i find out the engine details ect :)

I wish the UK would hurry up and implement ERTMS properly. It would be hugely beneficial to the public transport network. The high speed networks and trains themselves over in the continent and in Japan etc are extremely impressive.

Granted, its a huge undertaking in terms of infrastructure, given that the majority of the country's signalling gear is literally 40+ years old...

I cant find any pics, but was on a train in munich where you could see from the back to the front, there was no carriage walls / barriers. was like a rollercoaster!

The new London Overground ones are like this. Was quite cool when I first went on one last summer.:o

I love trains! Really enjoy getting on them (used to go watch them sometimes as a kid) brings a wonderful sense of nostalgia.

I enjoy the train ride from Zurich Flughafen down to the office (near to Rapperswil).

The double-decker trains are awesome. And the IR trains with the buffet car is great (proper linen on the tables and everything...)

Trains are awesome.

I've always thought, if I had absolute power, one of the things I'd do would be to re-open all the branch lines that were closed in the 60s/70s.
