You can upgrade to Train Sim World 5 for free until 17th October and all your existing DLC will be carried over. Be warned though, it will download all of your DLC again even if it's already installed in previous versions. Mine decided to do a whopping 151.6Gb download which has been going all day so far and is still saying over 4 hours to go!!
 
Already got mine. Worth noting that upgrading for free does not provide anything new, no new trains or routes. You will still get to use your old content and will receive support for new version.

I had about 172GB to download. Almost have all UK routes in my collection now.
 
TS classic is getting there slowly with regards to the UK network. I have most of the available UK stock and routes which includes Paddington to Penzance plus most of the branches, London to Scotland in several stages, London to Swansea in several stages, Heart Of Wales, London to Birmingham, both west coast routes in Scotland and many, many more.You can do a whole journey such as Penzance to Paddington but it needs to be split into a couple of journeys or you will be there for hours plus I don't think the game engine can cope.

Any reason why not before then? None of the maps actually link up with each other, so you'd be loading and reloading different DLC as you travel the country. Which would be time consuming, and break any immersion you might find yourself in. Although between TSW and Classic, we have a good amount of routes within the UK.

If you were interested in longer train journeys, you could look at Run8. Only trouble is that's based in America and more focused on haulage jobs.

Confused.com. How do I do this? I assume it's done via Steam but do I get the Free Starter Pack and everything copies across or something else?

For me it was at the top of the store page for TWS5

I assume you own a previous version of TSW? All owned DLC from previous games will just transfer over and will download along with 5.

Thanks. Wasn't obvious to me the old stuff would transfer with it. I'll try it this evening, Steam says TSW3 is in my library. Thinking though nearly all my stuff is Train Sim so pre World.
 
I purchased some new DLC and started downloading until I realised I was running low on space. Transferred over to a new drive and now the download keeps saying Corrupted Update Files for something along them lines, try to download the update again and same result over and over, restarted system and still same, verified all game data. Now downloading the entire 230GB again, which is going to take me 7 hours according to Steam... :eek:
