I will be traveling from Leeds to Gatwick airport. On the Virgintrainseastcoast site it show Leeds > Kings Cross then Underground from London Kings Cross to London Victoria 41m then London Victoria to Gatwick Airport.

Is the underground fare included with this ticket? If so, how does the ticket work on the underground barriers?

Thanks

It includes one cross London transfer if the ticket is marked with a maltese cross symbol, which it probably is.

I think it is but for Gatwick I change at Luton as this avoids underground

Luton is on the Midland Mainline not the East Coast Main Line.

Train tickets and Underground tickets are used the same way, you slide it into the slot in the machine and it will open the barrier. Popping back out for you to pickup if it is not your final station.
