Saw a advert in my local paper a couple of weeks ago about advertising game delevopment etc, checked out the site and put my contact details in.

They phoned me today and asked a number of questions, and booked me in for an appointment for some more info.

Anyone heard or have any info on them?

It costs £5000  You can't really teach game design anyway. If you want to become a designer then the best way is either to get involved in QA (as a games tester) and work your way up or enter as a programmer and then try and become more involved in design.

This course would be a waste of time.

Yeah, looks to be con.

pretty much this, not really credited, I studied similar things at uni, and have the degree to show for it, and to wipe my *** on, but it was designed to be a "how to" course on entering the industry, covering project management etc, this train2game stuff looks more like a compiled...for dummies course, covering basic programming and design.

doesn't look worth it imo

UKResistance just ripped them to shreds because they told them to take something down off their site.

Pfft. With the amount of negative stuff about and the fact that they threaten sites to take it down I think that says it all. I know gamesindustry.biz is a good site but maybe you can buy your way on there?

train2game is the IP of a company called Scheidegger. I actually found out a bit of info on them and it doesn't look good. I found some reviews of one of their other courses, an IT skills course, that pretty much all say they're borderline con artists. According to them, Scheidegger send a rep round to give you a "test" and then tell you that you're one of the few who passed the test. After that, you hand over a load of cash and they give you some out of date source material in return

dont be a fool, the tell tale signs are there ;)

Sorry to bump old thread,

Just wondering if anyone else has experiences of train2game. As iv been looking in to & keep finding mixed views everywhere i look. So after a bit more feedback maybe from people that might have started the course

Avoid like the plague.

These companies do nothing more than package up tutorials that are equivalent to those freely available on the net and charge you thousands.

If you'd like you can send me £1000 and I'll provide you with the exact same information and even mark your "tests" for you.

Il send you monopoly money then if thats the case, could you point me in the right direction to be able to learn the same stuff the course offers for free

Stay away... well away...

If you wanna learn an aspect of video game development theres far better ways to do it even if the course was legit and free.

this sort of stuff should be banned

edit** People who can't spell mannered properly definately shouldn't be running training courses :)
