Trance is so vastly misunderstood...

I always get mixed up with all these electronica genres. Really digging the songs in the OP, definitely going to check more out.

I quite like Fabriclive 37 by Caspa and Rusko - good Dubstep record. I also dig a lot of London Elektricity's stuff.

Dubstep in a Trance thread?

All the trance coming out now is just old stuff rehashed. You want the good stuff, hunt down albums like Gatecrasher Wet, early Slinky, Cream, Global Undergrounds by Sasha, Digweed, Dave Seaman, Nick Warren, Paul Oakenfold, Deep Dish, Daren Emmerson. Find stuff by Satoshi Tomiie, Sander Kleinenberg, Anthony Pappa, Seb Fontain (early stuff).

Hunt down the early Northern Exposure CDs, especially 1 and 3. There is so much out there and the modern stuff just doesn't have the depth nor the originality that it used to.

maybe you think trance coming out now is crap because its not actually trance that you like

all those are progressive house artists/compilations from the mid-late 90s...

anyway trance is maybe the only genre ive never 'got' so i will probably be leaving this thread about now

While all of these are top artists, I would not consider any of them trance.

But on a similar tip, check out Leftfield, both albums are great post-party. :)

I dunno about the orb - but the others have all done some quality trance tracks even if its not their main genre. Tho theres a few tracks mistakenly credited to Orbital which are infact either system-f or william orbit.

^ I think a lot of orbitals early stuff was being made before the term Trance was well known. I'd class their 'Chime' tune as more techno or house. Still, good music is good music, regardless of the genre. :) I think the their 'Halcyon and on and on' tune was a little trancey, but even then breakbeats were used instead of the typical trance 4 to the floor drumming...

If you like Dubstep, there is a lot of deeper more melodic stuff out there. The endless half-step wobble of C&R can wear a little thin I find. Check out Benga, Ital Tek, and Boxcutter. Not trance, but people who like trance type tunes would like this, check out Burial also...

Energetic, vocal, uplifting trance f.t.w! Exactly the type of stuff I enjoy dancing to :)

Ive noticed trance gets mistaken for many other genres of music by the people who concider it nothing but noise, hardcore was the funniest ive seen confused with it. cmon, when has hardcore sounded like a good trance track :D
