hi guys iv just recently upgraded my pc i5 2500k with a msi p67a-c45 mobo 8gb of corsair vengence ram and a tranquillo heat sink.

when i connected the back plate for the tranquillo i found the screws to be very short, and for the screw end to project enough for me to connect to the end after i placed the heat sink bracket over it i really had to tighten enverything up a lot. what i am seeing is the back plate now looks to be in contact with a lot of soldered ends protruding throught the mobo. iv taken off the heat sink and and i am using the retail one till i can hopefully get a solution.

sounds like its wrong way round, you should also have got a sticky pad to place between back plate and motherboard to protect motherboard.

if all else fails, check, check, and check again then re-read instructions.

thanks for the repy, the plate had a white insulated cover on one side, this the instructions said had to face the mother board. there was no sign of any sticky pad and that would have packed out the plate from the motherboard even further which would have ment tightning the spacer blocks even tighter. The instructions arnt that great but I did everything they said thats why i removed it and am using the stock cooler.

the side big white side faces away from the motherboard, its the little white pads on the four 'feet' that will be against the motherboard

k i checked the instructions again and it says "The Insulating tape must face the motherboard" I took it to mean the main body not the legs whuch also have tape on them.

Thanks for all the help guys im looking forward to trying this out now : 0
