I have changed phones and I cant work out how to transfer the MS authenticator app settings to my new iPhone, I've signed into iCloud and it has transferred the accounts over but then asks for a QR to scan "from your organisation" but I cant work out where to find the QR code. I have a standard user account and an admin account, when I try to log in both phones pop up a notification from the MS Authenticator app but the new phone comes up with an error and the old one works fine.

Any ideas to solve this? Happy to just remove the MFA on both accounts and re setup if that's easier? Although no idea how to do this either!

Thanks

Are you using MSA on both phones or trying to move to an alternative on iCloud?

A quick look at it on my Android phone says you can only restore from MSA on another device if:
  • you had MSA Cloud backup turned on
  • you are restoring to the same device manufacturer e.g. Apple iOS/Andoid
I tried turning on Cloud backup on mine and it also said you can only backup to a personal account. Which is not what I'm using MSA for so havn't bothered. If you have satisfied the previous points, are you looking in the correct account? When you say it has 'transferred the accounts' do you mean iCloud or any accounts you had within MSA?

Thanks for the replies both. I'm looking to switch to the new phone and not have it on both.

I too got the personal account account message so did sign in with a personal account even though its actually work related. By "transferred the accounts" I mean the 2 MS accounts that I have (normal account and admin account) now show on the MSA app but come back with an error.

Can I temporarily remove MFA on both accounts and set them up again on the new phone?
