Evening all.

Hope everyone is well. Just a quick one really as I've trawled the EA forums and even Googled the above and haven't found tiddly squat in terms of a solution.

Basically, I want to transfer all my save or current career progress in NFS: Hot Pursuit PC to my fresh install in Windows 7. Obviously as it's clean install it is right at the beginning and I don't want to have to start from scratch (70% completion).

I have looked on my secondary drive in explorer (XP drive where game was originally installed and played) and looked in Program Files> Electronic Arts> NFS: Hot Pursuit and from here I get stuck.

I have no idea where the progress or game saves go and I don't know what to drag into x86 folder so that when I play it in Win 7, I have all my saves.

I know this is possible as I had a step by step guide on how to do it but lost the link :(

Could you please help and point me in the right direction. Cheers for reading.

It is probably stored in the "My Documents" section on your XP drive.

I think it's something :\documents and settings\"user"\my documents, or :\users\"user"\my documents

You should then just have to copy and paste that folder to the "My Documents" section on your windows 7.

Ok. Tried that and simply copied and pasted into Criterion Games folder and then when you start game it crashes. Tried several times now with no luck.

I wonder if that guide just refers to you reinstalling save files back onto the same OS rather than from XP to Win 7 which is what I want to do.

Either it's that or I'm doing something wrong.

Hmm your savings should work fine, it's EA's stupid limited amount's of activation that is the main problem wiht this game. I think it's 5 times but i spent a long long time speaking to one of their staff to sort my account out last time as i did a hardware change & drive format and EA threw a fit as i reached my activation cap, which basicly means you cant play a game you own anymore. luckily he sorted something out his end and i could log on and my saves work again.Though whether they will be willing to do this next time i don't know. These activations also count if you change your motherboard for example. :r

Yeah I know what your saying there. Yes I agree my savings should work fine and I have even done it in a different order and it just won't load. Seems silly that I am left with no option other than to start the campaign from scratch.

I'm not sure though if it's directly related to EA. More of an XP/Win 7 issue but thats just a hunch.

I'm wondering if its due to the fact that I actually started the game and set up my preferences etc before I actually copied the XP save over. Maybe it's confusing it hence why it crashes out.

Oh well, back to the drawing board . . .

This is quite possible, Uninstall it and wipe out any registry key references to the game just to be sure, then reinstall and copy the saves over before launch. If that fails your only recourse is to speak to one of EA's reps. Their Livechat app works well depending on whether you get a helpfull soul or a complete tosspot on the other end, ran into both types :)

I would install the game, create a new profile, complete the first race, then copy your save files over. Don't overwrite the files. Delete them completely and put the new ones in the criterion games folder.
