Transfer video from iPad Camera Roll to Windows

Never use an iPad so I am a bit of a novice here. We back up my wife's iPad to her PC via iTunes so photos on the PC are transferred to her iPad.

However, the camera roll seems to be a different entity and it doesn't back up to her PC. I cannot see a way to transfer photos / videos she takes on her iPad to her PC for editing / backup. Doesn't the iPad posses a file system!!

Puzzled. Help please. Thanks (with no thanks to Apple!).

when its plugged into the pc it should show up in my computer and you can browse the camera roll and copy and paste files to your pc

If iTunes is installed doesn't it try and sync and potentially wipe everything - I have an iPod Touch already synched?

It won't do it unless you tell it to.

Plug it in as said above and it'll appear in My Computer.
