hi all,

I have a small problem. I hvae 1 copy of MW2 which I installed onto my hard drive before the dvd got scratched by my 3 year old. The game still plays fine and just needs to dvd in the drive when it starts.

Now my older son wants to play it so I thought that I could simply copy the installed game via a usb drive to the hard drive of my son's xbox. However when I try and copy it, the xbox comes up with a message about profiles and not being able to copy or something to that effect.

can any one shed any light on this and tell me how to get round this?

well even if you could transfer your installed game it still requires the game to load up on the xbox ? or is the disc able to be detected when in the drive?

The xbox does recognise the disk and will allow the game to play just fine using the data from the install on my hard drive. If I can get the install data over to my son's hard drive then he can use my disk to play the game.

failing that it'll be a trip down to town to see if i can get the disk cleaned by the shop that provides games....

i think they only charge £1-2 to cleanup a disc so its probably best to do that, unless you have a mate with a spare copy that would allow you to borrow it and install it on your other console.

You can't transfer installed games between consoles, the installed game data is locked to the console it was originally installed on. You have to re-install it on the other console using the disc, there's no other way around it.
