I have used Red Kawa File server before to transfer large (4.6gb) files to the PS3 hard drive, but now it just seems to stream them and wont give me a download option - anyone else had this problem and know a workaround???
Is this though the internet browser, or are is your PS3 seeing it as a Media Server?
Well I have transfered large files using file server before, and I recently transfered a 4.5GB vob file to the PS3 hard drive by burning it to a DVD. It isn't a file size restriction, it just doesn't give you the option to download the files anymore but instead streams it.
Bah - guess I will have to buy some dual layer DVD's then. Oh well, hopefully they will have it fixed soon.Ah apologies, it seems that the PS3 can only read FAT32 EXTERNAL drives, it's internal drive doesn't seem to have a limit on any files EXCEPT MP4 files, which are limited to 4gig.
Is the problem file MP4? if so then that's your problem, try changing the extension to .mpeg, won't affect playback but nullifies the limit apparently.
[EDIT] this could all be wrong however, i've only based the above on a quick google browse
[EDIT2] Ignore all the above. Apparently Red Kawa has intermittent problems with the 2.20 firmware, i've been recommended this:
http://www.rejetto.com/hfs/
Try that HFS application first, i've heard it works perfectly and does the same job red kawa used to be able to do.
[EDIT] Just set it up myself, quick, easy and currently transferring a 4.6gig MP4 file i have.
