Not sure if this is the right place to post? Couldnt see anywhere, anyhow, i have some videos in AVI format i need to put on DVD for a friend. I've got Nero but don't know how to do it, i try to burn the video file on the disk and it says unknown file format.

Also tried to compress the files and do it but it says the same, any ideas?

Thanks

Well what i want to do is burn it as a file so they can open the DVD and files on it and copy them to their PC.

Windows 7 has it's own integrated software to copy files to discs.

Try that.

Format/reformat the dvd-rw if that is what you are using and then just drag the file to the dvd or right click on the file and select 'send to dvd rw'

Make sure nero is shut down first.

The unknown file format message is probably because its looking for an ISO image file to burn, so if you are pointing it at an AVI file then it'll understandably not be happy.

As the others have said, select new DVD, make sure its data you select rather than video and just drag the files you want from right to left. There are also converters out there that'll make playable DVD's in commercial players from avi's too.
