Transferring apps from itunes to ipod touch

I've got two apps on itunes that I have just downloaded but I can't transfer/sync them to my ipod touch.

I am using itunes version 9.0.2.25 and ipod touch version 3.1.2.

Can anybody help me with this?

Annoying possibility, these apps don't work on the Touch!

Try another free app, and then try these again.

Ok, try installing another app, sometimes that allows previously stuck apps to install / appear / work.

What version of the Touch are you running, software wise?
