Would like to transfer (quite a number of) emails and Contacts from Windows Mail to Outlook Express, came across this method:

What you can do is create folders on your Desktop, USB Memory card, or other media, then drag/drop the messages from a Windows Mail local folder to the folders you've created (and it easiest to give those transfer folders names such as
Inbox, Sent, etc. to make it easier). Then take that media to your Outlook Express setup and reverse the procedure (i.e., drag/drop them from the Explorer folders into local mail folders in Outlook Express).

Is there no utility that would back them up (export) into some file type all at once, and then with that utility installed on the other comp. simply import them into OE?

Thanks.

It depends, things can get a little confusing when dealing with outlook as it's a much older piece of software compared to Windows Mail or Windows Live Mail. Any reason your moving to an older piece of software?

Have a friend who is blind, and the software he uses (JAWS screen reader), which he is using with Vista, has very little support on it, there seems to be very few blind people who use jaws with Vista as the vast bulk of them use it with XP, so am doing an XP installation and putting Jaws on it, so he would like (if possible) to transfer his emails from Windows Mail to Outlook Express.

Have found a program Express Assist that seems to be able to do it, the trial version is fully functional, so will give that a go.

Yeah, the text you quoted in your first post is probably the only way to do it, Outlook Express doesn't have an easy way to export everything as a single file.
