Transferring everything to new iPhone - Best way to do it?

Apologies as this question has likely been asked many times before. I am getting a new iPhone today (12 Pro Max) and I have an iPhone XR at the moment with all my installed apps, email, photos, notes, music etc.

What is the best way to transfer everything across without missing anything? It's been a long time since I've done this so I'm a bit rusty on the details.

Does everything get transferred over including all email and things like WhatsApp chats?

Keep the iPhone XR on next to you and it will detect it during the setup of the 12 pro max and let you copy everything across in its entirety. Some apps such as banking may require you to re-authenticate and 2fa etc but for the most part it will copy 99% across

Quick update, did this earlier this morning using the method above. Very quick to do and it did indeed copy everything across without any dramas.
