transferring files from one computer to another

transferring files from one computer to another which is the best way, i cannot use port hard drive, flash, dvd rw. as i do not have any i need to know how to do over a network or by connecting the computer to my main computer ect.:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:
 
ive tried putting them on same network my main pc doesnt seem to pick the laptop up plugged in by adsl to router???? any ideas as to why...

x over cable...i think u need for a direct connect from network card to network card.
 
Is this a one-time transfer or is this something you want to do on a normal basis?

You can set up a user account for the second system, and set up a shared folder. There are many articles on how to do this. As long as both 'puters are on the same network segment so they can actually talk to eachother, (and you already said both are running Win7), it should be a piece of cake.

Does it not ask for a user name and password when you access the computer? You could right click to folders you want transferring and select sharing.
 
Configure your home group and shared folders on both machines.

Hint: in every folder or library there is a button near the top which gives you share options, have fun. It shouldn't take more than 2 minutes to sort tbh.
