transferring files to xperia z3 over network/wifi?

Guys

how do i connect to my xperia z3 over the network or wifi? I don't understand why this appears to be so difficult/complicated?

On my Z10 (blackberry) it was dead simple. Just connect to wifi, go to windows explorer, type \\192.x.x.x ip address, login to my blackberry with username and pw and I can see all the folders and files and transfer them back and forth as needed.

How do I do the same thing with the xperia z3?? if i try to connect via ip address it doesnt do anything - just says windows cant connect to this device?

you need an app to be able to connect to the files and folders of the phone?

Yes, most file explorer apps will offer a way to turn the phone into some sort of storage server which will allow you to access it.

Android doesn't have this natively as the normal person will not use this feature.

Use a cable....
