Transferring files?

I have a laptop currently, and Am getting a Desktop soon.

But i have around 30gb of data on my laptop, which i want on the desktop.

Now How can i do this , easily and cheap! (meaning no burning to discs etc)

Just rang my brother.

He has a 500gb Ext. HDD, but is at Uni.

But he should be coming home soon so Ill do it then.
