Does anyone know if it's possible to transfer all the settings from a Firefox installation from one PC to another? I'd like to transfer:

- saved passwords
- add-ons (along with settings, e.g. the allowed sites for NoScript etc)
- themes

And ideally I'd like to do this in one go saving me a lot of manual work.

Head to %AppData%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles and you should have a <something>.default directory in there containing your all your personalised user settings.

Copy this to the same location on the 2nd PC and all the passwords, add-ons and themes should be there also.

This might be slightly different, but similar, for backing up an XP install.

Sounds good, will try that. Thanks.

Does this work going form FF3 XP to FF3 on a Vista machine?

Exactly what I'm hoping to do, will try tonight.

You can move profiles anywhere you like, even to linux and OSX. At most, the profiles.ini will need editing.

If you're on a Windows machine, I can highly recommend MozBackup :) It lets you backup and restore profiles for Thunderbird and Firefox, and more precisely allows you to pick and choose which parts of your profile (settings, bookmarks, passwords, cookies etc) to backup or not backup :D

It's very small and light, and easy to use. Worth a look if nothing else.
