Hi all

I'm thinking of getting a new Slim PS3 to replace my launch fat PS3 now there is to be a price drop.

How easy is it to transfer over Games and Saves and any other data to to a new console.

Are there any step by step guides?

You can do a full backup and restore that on the new machine and I think you can even do a straight copy with a crosscable, but not too sure on that one.

I did this back at Christmas, it's easy. Just connect the PS3s up using a network cable and use the data transfer utility, depending on how much data you have to transfer it may take a while but it's a really easy process the on screen steps are simple to follow.

Data transfer is better, some PS3 game saves are protected and the data backup util doesn't work across two PS3's... It only works on a single PS3 so using a network cable to connect them both up is the only way to transfer your save games if protected..

Unless you have PS+ and use the online storage.. You can transfer game saves, protected or not using PS+ cloud saving.
