Ive just signed up to O2 broadband, but my setup has been halted because I can't provide a MAC code. Problem is I don't have a MAC code. I only had the BT line activated today so don't have a previous ISP. Could it be that the previous tenant had the same number and it is his ISPs MAC code I need?

It means that the info o2 has is out of date - your line doesnt' currently have broadband on it but BT's database may not have been updated.

If you do some googling for "BT tags line phone number" you should be able to find a number to ring to check that BT have the correct records for you.

I thought when a line was reprovisioned any markers were removed, have you tried ringing 02 and explaining to them?

They're meant to be. I've had two lines that haven't been properly updated though. One of which still had Tiscali LLU on it when I got the line provisioned. The joy :/

Yer - it'll be BT you have to chase unfortunately.
O2 will put in the request and the BT database will respond with "ADSL already on line".
Until BT update that O2 will get nowhere.

Be thankful though, BT are pretty quick at sorting this issue these days.
Only a year ago I heard horror stories of BT taking 2-3 weeks to update their database.

sounds like bt havent closed the line job on your new line install which can take up to 24 hours hence delaying your order.
