Transferring Steam + Games

Ok, well new build soon, but don't really want to re-download all of my Steam Games, and will be running with completely new HDD's....

Question therefore is really this, what would be the best way to transfer the files and games over?

Could I just do a back up of Steam Games onto an EHD and then restore it from that when the new computer is all up and booted?

Yup. You can copy the entire Steam folder to an external drive and restore it on the new machine.

Make sure you shutdown steam when you copy it, otherwise it will corrupt your game files.

on the new machine, you don't even need to install steam. just run steam.exe from inside the steam folder and it will set itself up automatically.

Way I prefer to do it is to install Steam on new PC/hard drive then just copy the STEAMAPPS folder across.
