Transferring stuff from one ps3 to another?

Few quick questions. Basically gf bought me a 320gb slim, I already have a ps3 80gb but no point keeping both.

So how could I transfer from one ps3 to another like game saves etc? im thinking usb? But also my account is anything bound to the ps3 like how some games content binds to a ps3 rather then the actual account?

For example modern warfare 3 + elite etc all the codes I used does this stay with my account?

And best way to wipe data off the ps3 afterwards so nothing at all is on the ps3 with my data, account details etc? cheers.

^^ That's what I did when I was in your position when I moved from 40gb to a 320gb slim. Yes codes and such all stay with your PSN account, this method will automatically wipe the data off your old PS3.

Thanks for the link have looked over it. Was thinking I really only need a few game saves which I have saved to a usb, but does the game data itself need saved as well? theres no option to save it but is this purely just the installation of the game or does it contain saved data as well?

I couldn't get any of the transfer methods to work and had to re-download all my psn games and game patches again.

I managed to just copy all of my saves over from a USB drive though. As long as log in to your PSN account on the new machine first they should copy ok.

i had issues using a external 2.5" drive to copy all the transfer data to, it had to be re-tried several times before it finally worked.

it takes about 3 hours to copy too iirc.

i never bought a new PS3 though, i just bought a new hard drive for my 60GB Launch Model with BC compatibility, now has a 400-600GB hard drive in it, cant't remember the size now but it's huge and only cost me £30 ish quid.

No game data is pretty much just installation data, you don't need it. It will just save you the time of having to reinstall games on your new PS3, it can sometimes be a lengthy boring process depending on the game.
