Transferring to External Hard drive issue

Hi guys, my head is done in now and i cannot figure it out.

Ive recently swapped to a new motherboard (tomahawk x570) and now i have an issue with one external hard drive.

Everytime i try to transfer something to it it hangs at 69% it wont go any further and it stalls my pc. As soon as i disconnect it my pc works again. I can read from it and copy stuff off the hard drive i just cannot transfer to it.

Ive been to device manager and enabled write caching, ive checked for bad sectors and none of this fixed my issue.

The external was working fine on my other motherboard and maybe just a coincidence that its decided to play up on my new motherboard

I have another external which works fine to transfer too.

Can anyone help me out ?

yes works absolutely fine transferring from laptop to it

Might be to do with the permissions of files and users between the various drives and folders.

Is it hanging at the same file /folder ? It may be that you don't have write permission for just that folder.

its hanging everywhere and with any file i send it, looks like im gonna have to try and transfer everything off and format it
