Hey, wasn't sure whether to put this in here or the hdd forum.

My brothers PC (Vista 64Bit) runs on 2 x 320GB Sammy spinpoints (HD322HJ), however it seems one of them is on it's last legs after not even a year. I have just recently replaced my 'backup' raid of 2 x 500GB WD AAKS with a 2TB WD, so i have 2 known to be fine and dandy drives i can use for the time being.

How would i go about (if the drive lasts long enough) copying over his full install to the new raid volume with the WD's. Would the windows backup/restore facility in Vista be sufficient enough? If so, how exactly should i go about doing it?

Oh, well i have that on my system right enough but never had the need to restore any backups using it.

I just thought that as the Windows Backup utility lets you select a complete backup and where to save it that i would perhaps create a partition on the 500GBs to save it to then restore from there?

Guess i'm completely off the mark with that?

I know i'm updating my own thread but it's just to say that i've got it all sorted.

Didn't realise Acronis allows you a 15Day grace period for free trial so i used that following this guide from these forums.

Worked a charm :D.
