Hi everyone,

Looks like it's time for me to join the SFF club. My current set up is as below:

i3 340 with stock cooler
MSI H55M-ED55 mATX mobo
4GB Corsair XMS3
500GB Samsung HDD
SATA DVD/RW
Corsair 500w PSU
Powercolor 4890 1gb -> but are upgrading to a powercolor 5850 PCS+, but I'd happy to keep the 4890 if the 5850 won't fit.

There really are only a few requirements from me:

1. As small as possible.
2. No need to change the components.
3. Prefer black over silver cases.

Can you guys recommend me anything? Thanks a bunch!

Edit: Currently I've found the SG02 fits my spec but it looks a bit too long for my likes.

If you can source one, the Silverstone TJ08B-E Temjin is hands down the best M-atx case to build a power packed little monster gaming rig into!
It will survive rebuilds for a long time to come if you look after it, it's a very, very good case.

It won't break the bank either, problem is finding one as there seem to be supply problems atm.

Yup both of those look brilliant. But from the specs it seems that the sg02-f is still smaller? Ideally I'd like one even smaller than the sg02 or at least shorter.

Thanks for the suggestions though guys!

I guess it just depends what you like.
Personally I can't stand cube cases, you can do so much more with a quality mini-tower.

I prefer tower cases to cube ones as it means a smaller footprint on your desk for roughly the same overall volume.

In your shoes i'd probably look at the TJ08E, it's a decent case. If that's too big, then try the Sugo SG03.

Thanks for the reply Tute =]. Did you get my email? Or could you reply to my wanted thread? ;) Thanks!

Legion, can you shed some light on this? :)

Google around mate, there's quite a few enthusiasts forums out there with Sff sections that are much busier than ours here at Ocuk.

You'll see exactly what I mean when you've seen a few high end M-atx builds.

Silverstone M-atx SG cases are still based on the same 9 year old design they started with back in 2003.

If you absolutely must have the smallest M-atx case you can build a reasonable gaming rig into (volume wise), then I guess it's fit for purpose, it still has a large footprint though.
I'd rather spend my money on something else personally, like I said it's about what you like more than anything else.

A quality mini-tower however will give you more build options, more storage capacity, better cooling capacity, near invisible cable routing (with the right case),smaller base footprint, it will also last a few builds more than an impulse case buy.

given the budget you seem to be working on i would also recommend the cooler master elite 341, it is a great little case that you can get even huge gfx cards into (that's a 4870 vapor x in mine in the pic below) and you should be able to pick up a second hand one for around £20 and it's not much bigger than the SG03 (i can show you a pick of them side by side if you wish).

here is a pic of mine -

please note that i threw this together in about 20 mins and didn't even attempt to keep everything neat :)

Thanks for all the recommendations :) ive decided that i will sell my pc andget a itx set upinstead hehe. Love the looks of sg05/06. Thanks guys!

i've built a few pc's in the sg05 and it is a great little case, just remember to get a micro sata power adaptor if your putting an optical drive in it as all the ones i have had didn't come with one :)

i've got a CM Elite 360, not very small though. If you want proper small, look at a Shuttle PC
the elite 360 is an ATX case hence it is not that small :)

Does anyone know if a powercolor 5850 pcs+ will fit in a sg03? It is 264mm long (so JUST under 10.5") but has 2 pcie plugs at the rear. Or maybe if I dont install any 120mm fan on the bottom then it will be fine?

"Unlike most of AMD's add-in card partners, PowerColor deviates from the ATI reference design and implements their own custom engineering. While the PowerColor Radeon HD5850 PCS+ shares certain aspects of the reference design, such as the same 9.5" total video card length, and the Cypress GPU"

Your Google-fu is weak young one!
That took me all of 30 seconds.
