I put this in AV forums but no replies.
I just watched the LOTR trilogy and occasionally if a character raised their voice I would hear temporary distortion in the treble/upper treble registers.
It didn't happen when there was a lot of bass as I was wondering if amp channels being over loaded.
First thought I was imagining it but it kept recurring and I notice it in other films too when actors shout.
I have largely noticed it in dialogue but occasionally seem to hear it in other effects. One such time is early on in Oblivion when Jack is going vertically down into the canyon having been struck by lightning, just as the craft goes into the canyon and disappears from sight I can hear a reproducible distorted sound for a split second. When he zooms out again from the canyon its perfectly clear sound.
Although likely marketing BS the sony claims up to 165W per channel.
Speakers are 8ohm I think.
Dynamic volume EQ is off.
Any ideas what/why I am hearing this? My theory is that mistakes do happen in sound engineering and mics are overdriven, on a higher fidelity system you can pick this up.
or
The sony AVR is too bright for the Dalis and/or the sony is clipping (doubt this not listening THAT loud)
All speakers set to small. I am now seeing if taming down the treble in EQ will help though feel I shouldn't have to be doing this?
I know of two reviews saying the 1050 is bright in treble when pushed, I wonder if the hybrid tweeter in the Ikons are being sensitive to this?
The Richer sounds chap said I needed 'more amp' to do the Ikons justice but it was £330 new with 5yr supercare and I like my bang for the buck
some other people describing same thing as me:

Wondering If I need a new AVR but need to calm the AV spending atm
