Transit COnnect

Poor quality even by Ford standards. Uneconomical to run compared to the competition. Seats uncomfortable for long journeys, engines in the fleet for my employer have failed by 29k and require a replacement of turbo or whole engine. Drive by wire accelerator has a habit of breaking so that when you change gear, the engine over-revs by 1000rpm

Drives like a go kart and because of the silly small tyres, squeels and scrabbles for grip in even mildly slippery conditions. Diesel tank is tiny and coupled with epic thirst, mean fill ups every 200 miles (or less).

They are so bad that the fleet manager is considering Citroen vans next!

I don't think mejinks likes them.

The work one suits me just fine. Tank should be 60 litres, no idea what the consumption is like as fill ups are "free" at the onsite pump. LWB one is usefully much bigger. Drive is suprisingly car like. It's avan at the end of the day.

Would it not fall under "goods vehicle under 7.5t max weight" (even though it's a car-derived van) if indeed it has a gross weight of over 2 tonnes, meaning it can do 70 on motorways?

You've just said "wrong" then posted a link proving he's right. Fwiw he is right. The transit connect is 50mph on single carriageways and 60mph on dual carriageways and motorways.

He said wrong because the speed limit for a transit connect on the motorway is 70 not 60 as you and the poster above both stated.

For some reason they seem to be classed as non car derived, even though they look to be based on a ford fussion ( or whatever the jacked up fiesta was called)

They're Focus-based. I guess it has its own identity though, thinking about it. Will edit my above post although the speed limit part still stands surely?

Correct.
The Transit Connect is not based on a car platform (like for example a Fiesta van) and as such falls under goods vehicles 7.5ton & under.

Not that 99% of Transit drivers know - or care - about this apparently!

Whilst it's based on Focus or whatever bits it's not directly derived from a car, and does not look like one which is something of a clue!

To be fair I don't think may people know about this.

I certainly didn't when I rented a Transit LWB for the day!

Try reading the referring posts again. You'll look a little foolish.

Exactamundo.

They're Focus-based.

PC plod doesn't particularly care that it's shares a lot of Focus components. It's a separate product, not a car-derived van like say the old Escort van.
