Translating an entire Excel document

Keeping it short, we have a German colleague who has decided to leave our business. He was working on a particularly complex project. All technical costings have been sent to me - to try and pick the work up and carry on. That's hard enough as it is, but the fact it is in German sort of makes life more difficult.

• I've tried Google Translate, which will only upload in a web browser, no good.
• I've tried the native language tools in Excel, which do not function as the Microsoft help pages claim.

Ultimately I'd like every tab within several documents translated from German to English whilst retaining the layout and file format.

There's a few websites I've seen claiming to do this, with various plugins and/or downloads. However none appear to be trustworthy.

Suggestions?

Is it possible to load the excel spreadsheet into google docs in chrome, then right click and translate to English and then save as an excel file?

I don't use google docs, so I'm only assuming you can load an excel spreadsheet into a google docs spreadsheet.

Goolge Docs will open an Excel Spreadsheet and will save it back to Excel format again, but it doesn't have all of the formulaes & functions of Excel.
So, depending on how complicated the spreadsheet in question is, some functionality might well be lost!
