Moving home soon, I need to transport a 50" plasma. I have no packaging, but I can get bicycle boxes, and use bubble wrap on the bottom of the box to reduce knocks to the screen. Would be transported vertically, about 5 miles.

Or would it be better to leave in place, buy a new TV so not risking it?

When we moved we transported 2 plasmas. One 42" and one 60"

Borrowed a van from a friend and 1st cling filmed them, then a couple of layers of cardboard on the screen, then blankets, then more cling film. Transported vertically and well secured, with more blankets too.

Moved about 5 miles. All fine. Still in use. Not that much of a hassle, just have to be careful.

Moved my plasma a couple of times with no issues. The last time was with no box and just thick blankets and tied to the inside of the van upright. Not sure if be all that happy if I'd spent many thousands on it very recently, but it did do the trick.

Pack it up and take it with you. If it breaks, then buy a new one!

I’d risk it. If it breaks it breaks and you’ve planned to buy a new one. Either way, if you are moving (selling?) then you’ve got to move it anyway unless the buyer agrees to take it.

Just wrap it in lots of stuff, bubble wrap, cardboard, even use a duvet if you have a spare one just to add padding around the entire thing. What ever you move it in tie it down or have someone hold it down.
