I'm hopefully going to pick up my new bike tomorrow and the weather looks horrendous so my plan B is to hire a van and stick the bike in the back of that.

I've just checked and my local hire place have the following which seems big enough for the job.

Short Wheel Base Van
Ford Transit Short Wheel Base 5dr - or similar
Interior dimensions: L:2.5m W:1.7m H:1.4m

(bike is 2,090 mm x 705 mm x 1,115 mm so it should fit)

I was planning on squashing the bike up against the right hand side of the van (with a couple of pillows to stop it scratching) then strapping it with a couple of ratchet straps. Does this sound ok or is there another preferred technique?

Hmm, don't have a spare mattress though :D

It's just a one off, found a pretty much brand new bike (200 miles on clock) for £3k off the list price so it's worth a bit of a journey, :)

EDIT: Also, what is it, ZX6-R?

Yep, went for the ZX6R in the end.

I test rode the Daytona 675 on Saturday and it felt like a toy. I'm 6ft tall and felt like I was sitting on a mini moto bike. It was a nice bike, but just not *quite* as nice as the ZX6r was in my opinion.
