Hi, in a couple of days I'll be moving back home from uni but I built my computer here so am not totally sure on how to transport it. I have a Thermalright Ultra 90 cooler and HIS x1900xt gpu so they're pretty weighty. I've got the original packaging for the case so I'll stick in there but am unsure how to store it for the journey. Should I remove the cooler and/or GPU? Keep it upright or put it on it's side in the car? Any help/advice would be appreciated.

Sounds as if your traveling around the world by boat or something.

If driving, stick the case on the back seat lying down, be sure to stop every 2 hours, take it out and let it stretch.

When i was at Uni I used to transport my PC home most weekends. I used to just lie it down and strap it in via the seatbelt... very high tech :)

But to be fair this was 10 years ago and I didn't have to worry about monster heat sinks etc!

And when leaving it in a warm car park be sure to leave the window open a bit :p

PK!

Cheers, just worried about my cooler snapping off the socket or something! I'll lay it on its side, just realised I would have to unscrew my power supply as it's an Eclipse case so the screws are the only thing holding the PSU in place(when on its side).

I used to transport mine in a suitcase when I had a full ATX tower. I took the train so it would get bumped, knocked, all sorts - but it always came out 100% fine and stable (except when I broke the power button on the front once :o ).

Nowadays I do things differently. ;)

Reminds me of a conversation I had in college.

Person: I'm looking to buy an eMac
Me: Right, okay.
Person: I've been looking at them at auction. Some of them are local collection which cuts out postage. ....Do you think the suspension of the car would be able to take it alright?
