I am a bit worried about a certain subject. I have been doing shrugs (Dumbbells) and and a large amount of push ups in my home workout routine. However on Thursday night at MMA training I was doing pushups as a part of the cross fit workout and I got a VERY painful shooting pain from the start of my right trap up behind my jaw into the right side of my head behind the eye. At first this was very painful throbbing shooting pain and it slowly died into a dull ache/head ache and faded late Friday afternoon. I woke up this morning and the pain was gone, I was tidying my room and was moving my dumbbells around and I got it again very painful indeed and I now have the ache/throbbing.

I was wondering if this is going to effect my workout permanently or if anyone has had anything like this happen to them?

Kinda worried and I don't want to work out tonight in case I make it worse...

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Take a good hard look at your routine.

Do you do enough pulling movements, do you work your posterior chain properly. Is it ballanced?

Martial arts tend to be anterior dominant.

And go to your Doc.

I can tell you 100% its not a trapped/pinched nerve. More likely strained Lev Scap or upper Traps.
Go to your docs.
Edit : Sorry, thought you said it went into your jaw ('neck' nerves don't go into the jaw), It IS possible for it to be a trapped nerve (very high neck level) but unlikely.
