so I fancy a few trips away this year maybe. Came up with 4 ideas and just thought would try gather some experiences ? All very obvious choices, Prague, krakow, Rome, Amsterdam. Going with my girlfriend for 3 or 4 nights max type thing.
I like things straight forward and easy transport between airport and destination etc, with ease of exploring once there.
Also open to suggestions and tips etc

Cheers all :)

I absolutely love Prague. It's a great city to spend 3-4 days in to walk around and explore and most of the touristy bits are fairly close to each other (at least I think so lol). It's also pretty easy to get from the airport to the city centre (costs about £1-1,5 on the bus/underground).
The night life and dining life is pretty good there with a lot of different pubs, bars, clubs and a wide range of food. Depending on when you go the weather can be really warm.

I've only been to Krakow once but that was a very nice experience, also cheap as Prague and a lot of things to see as well. Great food, decent beers as well (they got some great pubs there). There is also some great tours going from the Market Square on a mostly daily basis.

I was in Amsterdam a few years ago and it is a pretty cool city but fairly expensive compared to Prague and Krakow. There is also a lot of things to see there with lots of museums and galleries etc. Very vibrant city. Accommodation is a lot more expensive though compared to the previous cities.

Do you not want to drive at all?

Three 3-4 night trips if you’re willing to drive are Nuce and SE France. Fly into Nice, get a car and then drive out to the hills behind. We stayed in Sospel and visited the hill towns around the area and the national park.

Alternatively four nights is enough to do a circuit if Romania. Fly into Bucharest, travel up to Brasov via Dracula’s castle, visit the Transfagarasan (there’s an ice hotel there in winter) and circuit back round to Bucharest.

Alternatively Serbia is also nice for a long weekend. Belgrade is a nice city to wander around and there are some really nice parts of the country if you’re willing to drive.

You can’t go wrong with any of those choices so take your pick. Rome and Amsterdam will be more expensive and if you want a good central hotel you’re looking at £100 - 150 depending on the time of year.

One of the best times of year to visit Amsterdam is spring when the tulips are out at at Keukenhof. Rome gets way too hot to visit in the summer for the amount of walking around you’ll be doing and the hotels do not fall in price to reflect this. The best time to visit is spring / Autumn.

A couple of other suggestions to consider - Venice and Dubrovnik. Two of my favourite places for a city break.

This.

One of those untapped places in Europe which hasn't been plagued by British chavs and is dirt cheap too.

Thanks for the above. Prague or krakow seem like they need a visit for sure at some point so probably a safe start :) chap in work was giving it plenty about niece too
