Has anyone here actually made a claim and has an insurance company that they would recommend?

I find most of the reviews online are for how smooth it is to buy it, not actually making the claim. Which is pointless.

I used to buy with Atlas and did eventually have a claim through them but they're now gone.

I actually spent ages yesterday looking at travel insurance and found a lot of providers are picky with covid:
- some won't cover you if you catch covid 14 days before travel
- some won't cover you if you're rejected at the airport if you were suspected to have covid
- some won't cover you if you catch covid abroad and aren't allowed to travel back home, where you'd need to pay for extended stay

There were a couple of non-mainstream providers with competitive quotes, but like you after reading some trustpilot reviews of people having difficulties even getting ahold of someone really put me off. So I paid a few quid more and went with Virgin Money - at least they're a big well known company.

Virgin Money actually looks decent. £56 for annual cover with £1000 flight cancellation for their Silver tier.

I have Nationwide FlexPlus account but never had to use the travel insurance element.

Always used CoverforYou had to claim from them during Covid. Simple for. To complete and they paid out in full quickly.

I have known people try and claim from these bank insurance plans and either not get a pay out or had to wait over 3 months.

Just check the policy is correct for your needs.

Pre existing conditions are great for travel insurance, think of a number and times it by 10.
