so need to get travel insurance and using compare the market getting all sorts of companies coming up but when checking them on trustpilot reviews are not good. checked zurich, debenhams travel and was surprised to see bad reviews for them.

anyone got any recommendations for a good trustworthy company to use for travel insurance?

Last time I bought travel insurance was with Cedar Tree as they offered the best policy in relation to current and long term medication.

I couldn't comment further as I wasn't unfortunate enough to find myself in the position where I had to claim on the policy.

I'm not sure if these defacto ratings are genuine too, could be just another gimmick in the pockets of the industry.

You will only find out how good they are if you have to claim.

Like all reviews - I go with a company I have heard off that generally has good reviews. You will also get people who pay for something but expect more than what they get. Hence the likely bad reviews.

I think its just the nature of insurance, people are far more likely to leave a review in the event of their claim being denied than a good one because their claim was accepted.

Ive used Alpha travel insurance, seemed cheap when I last used them, not had to deal with any claims though but I believe the reviews were good when I last checked.

LV have good reputation for paying out.

Nationwide flex plus includes travel insurance for you, your partner and family.

All their benefits go through the same number. I’ve had to phone them a few times for mobile phone insurance and roadside assistance and they’ve been great. The one time they got it wrong (used to have a service where they would cancel all your cards if your wallet got stolen or lost, girl on the line didn’t know this was possible, possibly due to her being new and the training for that cancelled. They removed this benefit a couple of months later.) they gave me £20 as a way of apology.

I've used Alpha for years also. They seem the most competitive (I now just have an annual policy with them), their website is easy to use, documents are easy to find. I've never claimed, so who knows who "good" they are but happy to continue using them.
