Traveling on Thursday. Quick one regarding flights and equipment

Bonjourno everyone,

Ok I'm flying on Thursday and my plan is as follows.

Take as much photography equipment as possible in my camera bag as hand luggage (I've checked it's within size restrictions) upto the 7kg limit, then put the rest in my main luggage.

Has anyone ever had any issues doing this? I'm going for a wedding so I pretty much need to take everything. After a few quick weigh-ins I can take everything + iPad except for the 5D2 body in the hand luggage and it sits at about 6.5kg \o/

Backup body can go in the luggage with clothes etc.

Flight is with Emirates by the way if it makes any difference. Has anyone been stopped/questioned by taking it onboard with them? :)

Always take my camera and lenses in hand luggage and have never had a problem so far with Ryanair, Easyjet, Monarch and Thomson.

If it goes through airport security they will let you on with it! (They also don't check the weight)
 
I took my thinktank on FlyBe as hand luggage. Long as you can fit it in the overhead or under the seat then it's fine...as long as it doesn't look like you are struggling with the bag as It gives away the weight.

Or fly BA lol 23kg!

I would not ever put anything in the hold that I can't replace or going to miss greatly. Only clothes and what not in the hold. Camera, laptop, etc as hand luggage.

You can "cheat" the system by having 1 body with lens and a flash over your shoulder, the rest in your bag, thus you just freed up about 2.5kg. Can sneak a lens in your jacket pocket if you want too :p
 
They normally have a good look when it goes through the x-ray machine. I have been requested to open the bag before, they just had a good nose around and let me go on my way. Apparently lenses are a drugs hidey hole.

I would definitely try to take the other body on board with you, can the missus stick it in her bag ?
