Well the "5 Year Plan" post has kind of made me start thinking about traveling again.... I had pushed it out of my mind untill after uni, but now i want to start planning for it again  Still wont be going untill after uni, but if i dont get into uni i will go within a year me thinks.

I was just wondering has anyone here taken a "Gap Year"? I want to travel around Europe, as well as seeing Egypt, Australia, Newzeland and Sri Lanka.

I was wondering how much time is a good amount of time to spend in each country?, What are the best things to do in each country? How much cash will i need to go traveling for a year? Staying in hostels, camp sites etc.

Also what would i need to take with me?

And finaly, if i was to go traveling for a few years, how easy is it to work your way around the world? IE going to one country, getting jobs as you go around say a week here, a month there etc to keep the money flowing as you go.....

Thanky :)

That's quite a good forum to ask a few of your questions on :)

I'm planning on a 3 month trip at the end of next year (well, if i can get a job soon!). It will probably be around Aus/NZ and other places in that part of the world, and i'm estimating costs of approaching £5k (hence the needing to work a year before going!).

I've discounted the European travel for now, as it's something i can easily do at any point in my life, whereas travelling further afield for long periods isn't so easy once you're more settled and have major financial commitments.
