Traveling to France with 4 Months Left on Passport

Looking to take the ferry to France over BH weekend, accommodation, ferry etc. will be booked for 4 days. However my 5 year old daughters passport expires in Jan 2022. All the advice I've seen from the Gov website is that you need 6 months - however nowhere does it say it's compulsory to have 6 months. If we have proof of our exit booking, hotel etc. then should this be in issue?

Make sure your passport is:

valid for at least 3 months after the day you plan to leave France, or any other Schengen country
