Hi,

I'll be flying long haul toward the end of the year and after some opinion on noise cancelling.

At the moment I only have normal ear/headphones in the Soundmagic E50 (w/ Comply Isolation tips) and Senn HD25.

The E50 with the isolation tips are pretty good and I appreciate its maybe a little subjective but I am really going to benefit from noise cancelling?

I know Bose pretty much have the noise cancelling nailed but not really a big fan of their sound quality and for the quietcomfort it's probably a bit more than I want to spend. Plus going to a hot location I'd rather not have big bulky over ears that would get a bit sweaty when by the pool.

With that in mind I was looking at maybe the Senn CXC 700. Their cancelling is supposed to be pretty good compared to Bose while retaining sound quality. Plus I can get them slightly discounted. Only issue with this is that I never really get on with silicone tips and Comply explicitly state their foam tips are not compatible.

So, good people of OcUK.. what to do?

I have some Audio-Technica ANC-23 and very impressed with their comfort and sound quality for the money but haven't used them much in a noisy environment. I believe the ANC33is are similar.

One thing I would query is whether you really need active noise cancellation. Normal IEMs with foam tips like Comply ones do a great job of reducing ambient noise.
