Hey guys,

What camera would you suggest for a novice who's planning on entertaining some wanderlust?

Budget: Keep it sensible.

I've been looking at the RX100 but how do I tell which Mk I'm looking at?

Any does anyone know the best value place to buy currently

Thanks

Price is the biggest giveaway :)

However

RX100 Mark 1 doesn't have a hotshoe on the top
RX100 Mark 2 does have a hotshoe
RX100 Mark 3 has a pop up OLED Viewfinder but no Hotshoe on top

You can use the DPreview side by side comparison to see what the specs / looks of the camers are like, just add the three different versions of the RX100

I always like the panasonic lumiz tz cameras. Although i have just replaced my ageing tz10 for an rx100 mk1. Paid £350 from the never knowingly undersold company.

I'm thinking about getting the RX100 MK-II using the cashback offer that Sony have at the moment.

What I'm wondering is, is it better to buy the camera now using the offer (£50 off), or hold out for any sales?

I doubt the camera will enter any sales as products such as these never do, you'll get cashback offers, price drops as the tech gets older and maybe the odd clearance deal but thats about it.

Just buy it at a price you are happy with and claim your cashback but I wouldn't wait too long as the cashback deals don't last forever.
