Halloo,
I just got back from the gym, Tuesday is my cardio night and I started off on the treadmill, my gym has the white treadmills with two bars either side and the lcd display on the right bar, they're quite old from the 90's but very common in gyms and distinctive I'm sure many of you will have used one and know what I'm on about.

ANYWAYZ

I don't like running for long periods of time on the treadmill, I just get bored so I mostly do as fast as I can to 3km, sometimes I race to 5km but I was in a rush tonight. Because it's such a short distance, I run it at a fast pace. I started off at 13kmph for first 5 mins, then went up to 14kph then 15kph for a bit, and for the last 300 metres I always do a sprint finish so I put it to 18kph which is what I'd class as sprint territory but it's not exactly fast, and to my suprise the treadmill takes off! I was running as fast as I could and I look and it said 18kph but it was still accelerating and if it were some old man, he would have been launched to the back off the gym but I quickly jumped off onto the sides and shouted *********** at the top of my voice in the middle of a packed gym and the machine suddenly switched off and then turned back on again because it realised it was malfunctioning. I reckon it must have went to 25+ kph before I jumped off, I'm a < 15second 100m runner and I was running as fast as I could and moving backwards for maybe two seconds before I jumped off, my face must have been a picture.

Needless to say the whole gym stopped for 10 seconds, was actually quite embarassing and I went straight over to the staff and explained and they were very apologetic asking if I was alright and that, I said ya know I'm fine but it's dangerous and I thought I should let you know so they put an out of order sign on it.

Could have been quite a nasty accident.

I'm sure no one actually cares and feel welcome to ignore it but I had to share it, shook me up a bit. Permission granted to laugh at my expense.

gotta love gym moments like that, had one last night.

was on eliptical runner (or whatever it is), my 500ml bottle full with water (sport cap) dropped under one of the moving bars and got squashed, water went over the 5 machines to my right and hit the middle reception area!
thankfully my right leg took most of the water, as it would have hit the far wall and covered a few people doing weights!!

all good fun :D

Cant help but notice youre in birmingham, wasnt norman green was it? lol had a few stories with their treadmills :P

Okay, lets go over it from where it made sense, you were in the gym...

Oh don't be a troll..it is perfectly readable.

James H, I was expecting you to say you slipped and was thrown off the treadmill, alas you escaped it. :o :p
