Treated myself to this at weekend!

Well impressed with it, after using a 17" widescreen LG for over 5 months! I am well chuffed. I have got it connected with the DVI from my PC at the mo running Windows MCE 2005. The picture watching movies is unlike anything i have seen, the clarity and detail is stunning. It is HD ready as well, not sure when sky are releasing HD, but if the DVI is anything to go by, the HD is going to be very impressive.

Can anyone tell me if I would benefit from connecting the TV from DVI to HD, using one of these?

How can I test out HD TV at the moment, can I download content for my PC and play it though using this lead?

I assume that you mean to plug the DVI output form you PC into the HDMI connector on the TV. In any case it shouldnt make any difference to picture quality as DVI and HDMI are digital connections that both carry the same video data. HDMI is just an upgraded version of DVI to carry audio. I would keep using the dvi port and save the HDMI port for something else later on.

Oh right thank you so I would not benefit because I carry my audio from a S-pdif to my amp.

I am not really up with this new generation of connections etc! Can I preview what HD will look like at the moment, if I download some content via the web? I have heard of these different outputs 720i 1040i or something (mostly associated with the Xbox360).

If I download some content, and play it though my PC via HDI to HDI on the back of the LCD, am I able to change the settings so its outputting in HD resolution though the graphics card properties in Windows XP?

I do not have this TV but reading through the posts of people that do you can get a 1*1 pixel map through a setting on the TV. If you then set the output of the graphics card to 1360x768 or 1366x768 you will be able to get the best possible image as it will bypass all of the internal scaling of the TV that can affect the quality of the image. As i said though i dont have the TV so i dont know the settings.

As for the HD content there are lots of trailers available on the net to show off the tv. Have at look at the apple site http://www.apple.com/trailers/ or this site http://www.hdclips.net/ to find some downloads.

using my setup DVI to DVI will show HD then, if I download one of these clips?

Connect your PC straight up to the DVI port, enable the DVI PC input (you can Choose DVI DTV or PC in the input menu) and set your desktop resolution to 1360x768 (Quoted from GordyR). You should then have a 1:1 picture.

And HD TV will display from these downloads? Sorry I know im dense, all very new to this, and its confusing. Going to try out the apple ones when I get in!

Yes. In that mode it will the same as if you were using a PC monitor.

Thats one nice TV mate. About sky HD, check about on this forum there is several threads about it. Sky HDs gona be expensive, estimates are about £400 for a new box.

I take it the 26" version is pretty similar to this one? Also, any chance of a photo of the back panel connectors?

It has 2 scart from what i can remember DVI and HD, S video sound in and out, and composite connections on the left corner behind the speaker. I will see if I can sort out some pics at the weekend.

I downloaded some of the HD clips from microsoft, all i can say is wow. The clarity is life like, it totally is another way of watching media. Switching back to watch normal TV totally shows up how dated the current technology we are using.

As regards sky, I dont think I will bother. From looking at thier website, it only offers HD on Sky One, movies and sport. I only have Sky One out of that lot, I do not have the movies or sport in my channel package.

I can really recommend this set to anyone after a new LCD. I was also interested in the 26", more to do with the space saving, but when you weight up the cost per inch, its more reasable to get the 32", even 42" if you have the space for it, which unfortunately I do not.

I have a full Sony DAV surround sound system, and watching DVD's is just like being at the cinema. I will get full pics at the weekend, of my setup.

LG definately gets my thumbs up.

Nah only a Xbox, I would not mind, one but my attention span is pretty slim and would get bored of it. I have MCE2005 which is the only real draw towards getting a 360, but without live tv support, it is not overly useful for me, other than being compact.

You can download HD trailers on the 360 marketplace. Hence I reckon that's why the OP was asking if ya had one

Exactly the same just smaller mate. I have the 26" version. The inputs layout is slightly different but it has all the same connections etc.

Nah its actually because i want to know what people think of the 360 on it. The resolution is slightly different as i understand the screen is 1360x766 or similar and HD 360 resolutions are 720 and 1080 etc.. so there will be some scaling involved..
