treating your deck

had some decking laid and want to protect it before the weather goes bad.

I like the wood grain so don't really want to use paint.

whats the best option that's going to last a good year at least before needed redoing.
 
Im a real fan of the screwfix ones, but hey wiff a bit for a day
Whatever you do get one that isnt water based, the solvent ones soak right into the wood really quickly

Let your deck age though, ideally you want more of the moisture in it to come out so you can replace with preserver
 
Decking isnt slippery when wet apart from under two scenarios

1) its got no run off so can literally become soaked. I have a small patch of this to fix as we added a planter box that slighly overlapped it negated the drop and as such now it gets soaked. Its noticably different to walk on when its been raining heavily
2) Its got algae or something on it. The only time I slipped over in my garden was on a slab actually as it gets green, but the close by decking if left untreated suffers the same.

so not the best time to be looking at treating it as its been hammering it down for days?

didn't see the screwfix stuff, ill give it a go at half the price!
