I recently bought a Canon 400D (21st birthday present). I have been playing about with the camera for a couple of week on and off. Have found the first picture I like though. It has been cropped slightly in photoshop, and the levels adjusted slightly (on all but the moon) as the original was a little dark. Any comments and criticisms welcome.

I can't see the pic

/yes I can...

That's quite nice, although the illumination on the tree seems a little uneven in places. Were you 'painting' with light? I've not tried it myself, but I have run about in woods with flash guns before. That's fun!

bah will say it again. 3dstudio max! :)

excellent work. very nice photo.

That would take a while to make unless you have a tree generator.

Very nice photo indeed. Might be worth going back with a flashgun to fill the entire tree with light to see how it looks then.

I really like it though. Very nice.

King.

Thanks guys. I must admit I did think it looked very CG, in a way thats why I like it (the green branch at the bottom right particularly). I might nip back some time and get a few more pics. Not sure I'd get the red glow again though in the background, that was down to mist and smoke on bonfire night.

Yeh the pic is taken with the standard kit lens.

The picture was taken using the £50 half price flashgun available when buying the 400D from a particular shop.
