Hi

Ok so my brother started doing a bit of riding last year and wants to get a better bike now. He rides reservoir tracks and canal paths, distance upto about 25 miles, so nothing too strenuous and this bike will not be ridden on the road. Budget upto £800.

He has his eye on this Trek but I think he should still go hardtail mtb, that would be my preference anyway.

So in your vastly more knowledgeable opinion is this Trek any good, would you recommend another hybrid for similar money or agree with me about hardtail MTB.. at least then he could come to Cannock chase occasionally with me

Thanks folks

I've seen those DS (dual Sport) bike and kinda fancied one for my commute, canal trails, and bad city roads, parkland trails etc.

I'd also like a MTB but unless I got into it, I think I would be better hiring one of them as I do it so rarely. My current commuter is a old steel MTB with slicks. But my route has changed and its not as smooth as it used to be.

I guess you'd have to test ride both. Look for reviews, from owners.
