TressFX 3.0 Document "Anyone Interested"

Looks like a big improvement on the original but kind of lacks "sheen"/gloss the lighting is very dull making it look more like strands of crepe paper.

It's good that they've already got 2 games announced. Whether it's been any good or not in the past has been largely irrelevant due to lack of games implementing it. They had 1 big title?

So to have 2 at this stage is good. I think AMD need to get a bit better at pushing their technologies.

I like the looks of it. I just hope they focus on proper performance of it.

EDIT: that was a total brain fart :(

UBI Soft behind which game? both of the ones in question are produced by Square Enix/Eidos Montreal.

(I'd say thank goodness but DX HR did have some low level stutter even though the performance was general excellent on paper - so hope they can avoid that with future DX titles).

Ubisoft? Square enix

Yeah sorry i was having a brain fart :).. my bad..

This might be a good place to ask about this.

I got the TressFX 2.2 SDK from AMD's SDK libraries weeks ago, i have never been able to get it to run.

What seems to be happening is: it is running in the background (As you can see in the Aero Window) but the window will not display.

Looking forward to this and guess what ? If it runs like crap on Nvidia hardware because it's AMD tech, I'm not going to start moaning like a baby who just lost his dummy I'll just turn it off :p

I don't care too much, if anything it should be optimized better and not drain performance as much as the original did so that we can actually use it.

I thought it was rubbish in Tomb Raider. It looked awful and moved nothing like real hair. Hopefully they've refined it a bit since then.

Both TressFX and Hairworks aren't realistic imo, it's better than static hair that doesn't move but it's still a long way off representing how hair actually moves. Probably don't have the compute power to do it properly yet.
