Hi all,

first of all, sorry if this has been answered before, i have been out of PC's for a while and things have changed a lot

I have decided to get three 17/19" moniters instead of one 24".

The reason for this is, it works out about the same price...for many more "'s

However atm i only have one X800 GTO gfx card, it has one DVI and one VGA output. If it went for three moniters would this mean that i have to buy another graphics card with dual-DVI output,?

Also i would occasionally like to play games on my PC, not seriously but i do buy the occasional game if everybody is raving about it. Would i need to just settle for playing from one moniter, or could i use all three at once-properly (no menus on the extra moniters ect...)

Thanks in Advance
Deano

You would need an extra gfx card yes. Whether you need 2 more DVI outputs depends if the monitors only have DVI or both vga and dvi.

Don't see why you couldn't use all 3 for games.

On a personal note I would get 1 24". When you come to upgrade your displays it will be a pain. Yet with 1 24", in a years time upgrading is simply buying another 24"

If you want to game across 3 monitors, realistically you need a matrox triplehead2go. Unfortunately these aren't very ATi happy (well, completely unsupported...), but with an X800 you'd probably be struggling anyway.

I've got a triplehead2go on the marketplace that I can't seem to sell. In a couple of hundred posts maybe you can take it off my hands! ;)

If you want to run at native resolution you'll want lots of video RAM, 512MB+, so we're talking 7900/7950/8800 territory.
